Photo & File Backup · Last updated: September 17, 2026

Photo & File Backup is an iPhone app that keeps an independent copy of the photos, videos and documents you choose to save. This policy explains what happens to that content and why the app asks for the permissions it does.

In short: Photo & File Backup has no account system and no server of its own. The items you add stay in the app’s storage on your device, and they leave your device only if you choose to export them yourself.

1. Information we do not collect

Photo & File Backup does not ask you to create an account, sign in, or provide any personal information in order to use the app. We do not collect, receive or store:

Because we never receive this information, we cannot access it, share it, or produce it in response to a request.

2. Information stored on your device

To do its job, Photo & File Backup writes the following to its own storage area on your iPhone:

This information is stored locally for the app to function. It is not transmitted to us and there is no automatic cloud synchronization.

3. Device permissions

Face ID, Touch ID and your device passcode

If you turn on the vault lock, the app asks iOS to authenticate you before the vault opens. Authentication is performed entirely by the operating system. Photo & File Backup receives only a success or failure result and never has access to your biometric data.

Photo library

When you import photos or videos, you select them through Apple’s system picker, which gives the app access only to the specific items you chose. Separately, permission to add to your photo library is requested only when you ask the app to save an item from the vault back to Photos.

Files

When you import documents or import an existing backup, you choose them through Apple’s system file picker. The app can read only what you select.

Network access

The vault works offline. A network connection may be used by iOS itself when an item you select in a system picker is stored in iCloud and needs to be downloaded to your device first. Photo & File Backup does not send your content anywhere.

4. Encrypted backups

You can export the contents of your vault as a single password-protected backup file. The backup is encrypted on your device using a key derived from the password you choose, and it is written to the location you pick, such as Files or an external drive.

Please note:

5. Retention and deletion

You remain in control of everything the app stores:

Because we do not hold any of your data, there is nothing for us to delete on your behalf.

6. Security

Vault content is stored inside the app’s own storage area and is protected by the file protection provided by iOS while your device is locked. Exported backup files are protected by authenticated encryption using the password you set. Every saved file carries a SHA-256 fingerprint, so the app can verify that a stored copy still matches what was originally imported.

No method of storage is completely secure, and the protection of your vault also depends on your device passcode and the strength of the backup passwords you choose.

7. What can and cannot be recovered

Photo & File Backup can restore copies that you previously saved to the vault, items that are still in Vault Trash, and the contents of a backup you exported. It cannot read your device’s system storage for deleted items, and it cannot recover photos, videos or files that were already permanently deleted from your device.

8. Children’s privacy

Photo & File Backup is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children. Since the app collects no personal information at all, there is no children’s data for us to hold or remove.

9. Your rights

Privacy laws such as the GDPR and the CCPA give you rights to access, correct, delete or export your personal data. In the case of Photo & File Backup, all of your content stays on your own device and is under your direct control: you can view it, rename it, export it or delete it inside the app at any time. We hold no copy of it and therefore cannot access, sell or disclose it.

10. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be published on this page with a new “Last updated” date. Significant changes affecting how the app handles your content will be described in the app’s release notes.
